God is Not a Four-Letter Word
On my flight today to Seattle, the in-flight movie was The Queen. I was happy, because I had wanted to see it but hadn't made it while it was in the theater. I thought it was quite good, except for one bizarre moment with a deer, and really enjoyed it.Except apparently Delta thinks the word God is a curse word. They bleeped it out every time. I find this quite upsetting, because no matter what your faith or lack there of, God is not a curse word. Neither is Buddha, or Allah, or Zeus, or any other deity. I don't think anyone would have been irreparably damaged by hearing the phrase 'for God and country' in this movie, considering it's a tenant of the monarchy of Great Britain. I don't get it. That Delta would waste time and money on such an unnecessary exercise.

That is weird. Maybe they didn't want to incite anyone who might be prone to pulling a bomb out of their shoe and blowing you up.
How bizarre!!!People really are getting far too PC these days. It's sad.
I've seen this happen on talk shows, when someone happens to say God, or Jesus, they get bleeped...it always irks me, because we can hear words like bitch, ass, and similar - and though they are words which have legitimate meaning, it is very rare for them to be used that way - and growing up, these words were not part of my normal conversations - now they are much too frequent, and kids are hearing them and using them as part of their regular communication. My kids know our feelings on using bad language, but they tell me: Mommy - you would hate hearing the conversations on the schoolbus! Why doesn't Freedom of Speech apply in this circumstance? You're right - why spend the time & money to censor?
CNN has a story about the censoring: http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Movies/01/25/god.bleeped.ap/index.html
Well, that's a relief, that it was a mistake!
